Working Principle
  • Rotation: Both the cylindrical workpiece and the abrasive grinding wheel rotate constantly in opposite or relative directions.
  • Feed: The spinning grinding wheel moves inward toward the workpiece to shave off tiny metallic chips.
  • Traverse: Either the workpiece or the wheel slides back and forth lengthwise across the surface to finish the entire section. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Main Types
  • Outside Diameter (OD) Grinder: Shapes the outer cylindrical surfaces of shafts, rollers, and pins.
  • Inside Diameter (ID) Grinder: Uses a smaller internal spindle to grind holes, bushings, and bearing interiors.
  • Universal Grinder: Handles both internal and external diameters, plus complex or tapered rotational shapes.
